Hidden Gems of Plainville, MA

Who is ready for a giveaway from a fabulous Plainville business? I have a surprise for you! Read on!

Plainville subscribers, this question is for you! Have you ever told someone you are from Plainville and gotten a very puzzled look in response? I usually say something along the lines of “We are super close to the (Wrentham Village Premium) Outlets and next to North Attleboro. And then I receive a more welcoming sign of understanding.

Plainville may be small, but we do have some great locally owned businesses! It's time to put Plainville and Plainville businesses on everyone's map! So, for the next few weeks, I am going to highlight one of my families favorites AND offer a giveaway from that business!

This week I would love to introduce you to “One Up Games” in Plainville. If your child is a gamer, this is the spot for you! The new store is HUGE and the game possibilities are endless. In addition to almost every video game out there, there is also a selection of board games, air hockey, pool, virtual reality, pinball, and more!

I recently hosted my sons 9th birthday at One Up Games. The store was closed for our party, which was a major bonus considering the strange times we are in now. The store employees were extremely patient, attentive, and knowledgeable! Prior to the party, I was offered free supplies, like tablecloths, plates, napkins, and utensils. I was also offered help ordering pizza for the party. Party prep was extremely stress-free! All we had to do was show up with the cake and a knife, which I forgot. FYI, do not make that mistake!

We had a total of 6 kids at the party, all in masks, and as socially distant as possible. Considering the size of the venue, it was extremely possible to space out the kids.  After each kid was done playing a game, that station was cleaned and sanitized by a store employee. I am certain the kids played about 25 different games in all, possibly 50. Never once did a store employee look bothered or annoyed. They even took the time to teach us all some things about the different stations and games each time they brought one out.

One of the party attendees was fascinated by all the posters hanging up in the windows and had asked if he could get one to bring home. I explained to him they might have some for sale and suggested that we take a look. When we went to the desk and asked about posters, we were overwhelmed by generosity. We were given free posters for all the kids, as well as stickers, and even some lanyards! ! I also found that they sell used games (and consoles) at the store. My son scored a game he has been wanting for a long time for $10! The birthday boy was also given a free pass for future game play!

Covid-19 has caused so many of us parents to feel terrified and confused about how to celebrate our children’s birthdays. I was torn myself. I had hosted a parade for my daughter’s summer birthday, and I found that to be more stressful to coordinate than an actual party! What a relief to know that we have a local venue where we can celebrate in safety! One Up Games is a fantastic fun  option for hosting your next small children's party or get together! You will not be disappointed!

And now, the giveaway! I am so excited to share this with you!
